Ahli Sidab secure hard-fought win over Seeb
AHLI SIDAB TOP OHL STANDINGS, MUSCAT SECOND
Ahli Sidab secured a hardfought victory over Seeb 24-23 in a closely contested Oman Handball League match at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher on Sunday.
The match was a nailbiting affair from start to finish, with both teams showcasing their prowess and determination. The first half saw a balanced display, with the teams exchanging goals and neither able to establish a significant lead. Ahli Sidab took an early lead through Adnan al Wahaibi, but Seeb responded quickly to level the score. Despite Seeb’s efforts to take the lead, Ahli Sidab regained control, scoring two crucial goals by Abdulaziz al Dagheeshi and Mohammed al Dagheeshi to end the first half with an 11-9 advantage.
Ahli Sidab maintained their momentum in the second half, extending their lead to 12-9 with an early goal. However, Seeb refused to give up and fought back relentlessly, capitalising on their pressure to equalise the score.
The second half was characterised by intense competition and impressive goals from both teams. As the clock ticked down, Ahli Sidab delivered the decisive blow, securing the winning goal in the dying moments to claim a hard-earned 24-23 victory.
In another match, Muscat and Oman Club showcased their skills, with Muscat dominating the first half thanks to their players’ outstanding efforts. The first half concluded with Muscat leading 11-9. The second half witnessed a surge in intensity and rivalry between the teams, with both sides showcasing their agility and scoring remarkable goals. Oman Club managed to level the score, resulting in a thrilling 19-19 draw.
With these results, Ahli Sidab grabbed the first three points of the second stage of the OHL and topped the overall standings, while Seeb remained at the bottom of the four-team league. Muscat secured second place, followed by Oman Club in third place, both with one point each after their draw.
At the end of the first stage, Oman Club led the tournament’s overall standings with 12 points, followed by Seeb in second place with 10 points and Ahli Sidab in third place with 7 points, edging out Muscat on goal difference.
Seven teams are participating in the Oman Handball League namely Muscat, Seeb, Ahli Sidab, Oman Club, Khasab, Salalah, and Nizwa.
