Oman’s FDI reaches RO 25.050 billion in 2023

The volume of foreign direct investment­s (FDI) in the Sultanate of Oman by the end of Q4 2023 amounted to RO 25.050 billion, with an increase of 21.6 per cent compared to the same period in 2022, which was RO 20.590 billion.

Preliminar­y statistics from the National Centre for Statistics and Informatio­n (NCSI) indicated that the volume of inflows in foreign direct investment recorded a growth of 57.5 per cent by the end of the fourth quarter of 2023, reaching RO 4.45 billion compared to RO 2.83 billion by the end of the fourth quarter of 2022. The oil and gas extraction sector accounted for 78 per cent of the total foreign direct investment by the end of Q4 2023, with a total value of RO 19.523 billion, an increase from RO 14.638 billion.

The value of foreign direct investment in the manufactur­ing sector by the end of the fourth quarter of 2023 reached RO 1.781 billion, up from RO 1.873 billion, while the value in financial intermedia­tion was RO 1.347 billion compared to RO 1.824 billion.

The value in real estate, rental and business activities amounted to RO 1.034 billion, up from RO 1.005 billion.

The United Kingdom led the total foreign direct investment by the end of Q4 2023, accounting for 50.7 per cent of the total foreign direct investment with a value of RO 12.676 billion, followed by the United States of America with a total investment of RO 4.296 billion.

The People’s Republic of China came third with RO 1.329 billion, the United Arab Emirates with RO 958.600 million and Kuwait with RO 830.900 million.
