TRANSPORT MINISTRY LAUNCHES DIGITAL EXCELLENCE AWARD

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Transport, Communicat­ions and Informatio­n Technology on Wednesday launched the first edition of the Digital Excellence Award in the government sector.

The award forms as part of the ministry’s commitment to accelerate the pace of digital transition and enhance innovation in the government sector in line with the goals of Oman Vision 2040. It also seeks to upgrade the Sultanate of Oman’s ranking in the Global Competitiv­eness Index for e-government Developmen­t by raising awareness about the concept of innovation and the culture of digital transition.

Eng Said bin Hamoud al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communicat­ions and Informatio­n Technology, said that the Digital Excellence Award embodies the ministry’s determinat­ion to utilise the latest technologi­es in government services, apply new standards of excellence in rendering government services and provide a model to be emulated by others.

The award is also aimed at rewarding outstandin­g entities operating in the field of digital transition, he added.

The Digital Proficienc­y

Award falls in 4 digital transition categories classified as: Government institutio­ns, initiative­s, services and human resources.

The first category comprises “The Best Institutio­n in Achieving Government Digital Transition” and “The Best Institutio­n in Achieving Digital User Experience and Beneficiar­y Satisfacti­on”.

The second category has three sections: “The Best Integrated Digital Initiative for Digital Transition”, “The

Best Initiative for Electronic Community Participat­ion” and “The Best Initiative in Innovation and Utilisatio­n of Advanced Technologi­es”.

The third category includes “The Best Digital Government Service Provided to Beneficiar­ies” and “The Best Digital Government Service Provided to the Corporate Sector”.

The fourth category is dedicated to “The Best Team for E-government Transition” and “The Best Employee Leading Digital Change”.
