Salalah clinch OAA Shield, Al Amerat second

SALALAH DOMINATED THE OVERALL STANDINGS, AMASSING A TOTAL OF 14 GOLD, 11 SILVER AND 8 BRONZE MEDALS. AL AMERAT CLUB FINISHED RUNNERS-UP WITH 11 GOLD, 8 SILVER AND 4 BRONZE MEDALS.

Salalah Club emerged victorious in the Oman Athletics Federation Shield Championsh­ip, held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher from May 17 to 18. Salalah dominated the overall standings, amassing a total of 14 gold, 11 silver and 8 bronze medals. Al Amerat Club finished runners-up with 11 gold, 8 silver and 4 bronze medals, while Al Salam Club secured third place with 5 gold and 1 silver. A total of 492 athletes representi­ng 17 clubs participat­ed in the championsh­ip in the junior category, 16 clubs in the youth category and 22 clubs in the general category. The competitio­ns on the first day included the 100m, 400m, 1500m, 2000m and 3000m steeplecha­se, medley relay, 4x100m relay, high jump, and shot put. The second day’s competitio­ns featured the 200m, 4x400m relay, 3000m, 400m hurdles, 800m and javelin throw. At the closing ceremony, the event’s sponsor, Sayyid Saeed bin Sultan al Busaidy, along with Salim al Amri, Chairman of Oman Athletics Associatio­n (OAA), presented medals to the top three finishers in each category of each event.

In the 400m sprint for juniors, Moayad al Badri from Al Salam took first place. In the youth category, Akram al Ghawawi from Masirah Club secured first place. Taha Yassin from Salalah won first place in the general category.

In the 100m sprint, Dim Hamood from Al Amerat won first place in the junior category. For the youth category, Mulham al Shukaili from Al Amerat took first place. Mulham al Balushi from Ibri Club won first place in the general category.

In the 2000m steeplecha­se for juniors, Ahmed al Riyami from Al Bashayer Club won first place.

In the 3000m steeplecha­se for youth, Saber al Amri from Salalah secured first place.

Ahmed al Amri from Salalah won first place in the general category.

In the 1500m run for juniors, Osama al Rahbi from Salalah took first place. For the youth category, Mohammed al Ghawawi won first place. Abdullah al Qarini from Al Amerat secured first place in the general category.

In the 110m hurdles for juniors, Saeed al Balushi from Al Salam won first place. In the youth category, Salem al Dighaishi from Salalah took first place. Faisal al Azki from Sohar secured first place in the general category.

AL SAADI WINS 200M

In the 200m sprint for juniors, Ahmed al Jabri from Al Salam took first place. In the youth category, Mulham al Shkaili from Al Amerat won first place. Mohammed al Saadi from Al Amerat secured first place in the general category.

In the 5000m run for the general category, Abdullah al Qarini from Al Amerat took first place. In the 4x400m relay for youth, Salalah won first place, with Bidiyah Club coming in second. In the general category, Salalah came first, Al Amerat second and Ibri third. In the 3000m run for juniors, Al Harith al Jabri from Salalah secured first place. In the youth category, Abdullah al Qarini from Masirah Club won first place. In the 400m hurdles for the general category, Nawaf al Azki from Al Amerat claimed the top spot. In the 800m run for juniors, Al Yazan al Shamsi from Salalah came on top. For the youth category, Mohammed al Ghawawi from Masirah Club won first place. Jihad al Mahrami from Al Amerat claimed first place in the general category. In the long jump for juniors, Tariq al Subhi from Al Musannah Club took first place. In the youth category, Hussein al Maawali from Salalah won top spot. Salem al Rawahi from Al Amerat won first place in the general category. In the high jump for juniors, Al Yaqzan al Abdlali from Al Amerat took first place. In the youth category, Ayham al Hosni from Al Salam came on top. In the shot put for juniors, Al Yaman al Hinai from Al Salam secured first place. In the youth category, Mahad al Hajri from Salalah took first place. Khamis Said from Salalah won first place in the general category. In the javelin throw for juniors, Hamad al Ghasani from Ibri came on top. In the youth category, Qasim al Saadi from Salalah won first place. Hamid al Mahrouqi from Salalah Club secured first place in the general category.

AL SALAM CLUB SECURED THIRD PLACE WITH 5 GOLD AND 1 SILVER.
