Dr A. V. Gurava Reddy, spoke on the recent advances of orthopaedics that were made during the past decade. Painful arthritis of hip, knee and shoulder joints is very common problem. Joint replacement surgery, he says being a major and rare surgery, has become a very common and very successful surgery. Minimal invasive surgeries have reduced the pain after surgeries and early discharge from the hospital.

He also spoke about the sports injuries which are very common in Gulf nations where lot of football is being played. Most commonly they injure their Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and their meniscus. Many sports person have problems like shoulder dislocation, muscle tears, etc. All these problems can be treated with keyhole arthroscopic surgeries. For bone cancer, in olden days, doctors used to amputate the limbs. But now with limb salvage surgery, patients need not go for amputation,

As a token of appreciation Dr Gurava Reddy was given a memento by Abdul Latheef for his outstanding achievements in the field of Joint Replacement surgery.
