Global experts to share EOR techniques at oil exhibition

MUSCAT: Two hundred and eighty companies are expected to participate in the ninth Oil, Gas, Refinery, and Petrochemicals Exhibition and Conference, which is scheduled to be held from March 31 to April 2.
As many as 280 companies will take part in the 2014 event, compared to 228 companies that participated in the last edition of the conference in 2012, Dr Saleh Al Anboori, director general of Petroleum Investments at the Min- istry of Oil and Gas, told a press conference here yesterday.
The press conference was attended by Dave Campbell, general manager of BP Oman; Eihab A. Abutaha, chief executive officer at Sabco Group; Sultan S. Al Shidhani, Study Centre manager at USM Petroleum Development Oman, Sultan S. Al Shidhani, Study Centre manager at the USM Petroleum Development Oman; and Waleed Refaay, managing director at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Driving Integrated and In- ELHAM POURMOHAMMADI elham@timesofoman.com novative EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery).’ The event will bring global experts in all forms of EOR techniques to present and discuss their ideas, initiatives and findings.
150 national companies
Al Anboori said that 150 national companies and 130 international companies will participate in the event, compared to 115 and 113 national and international companies that took part at the exhibition respectively in 2012.
The exhibition space will be 14,500 square metres this year while 11,500 square metres had been allocated for the previous edition. Eihab A. Abutaha, chief executive officer at the Sabco Group said that the exhibition — which will be the largest-ever trade event in the history of the exhibition industry in Oman — will be held under the auspices of the Ministry of Oil and Gas.
It is organised by SPE and supported by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), Oman Society for Petroleum Services (Opal), and Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), he said.
According to him, some of the major participants include Qatar Petroleum, PDO, Bahrain Petroleum Company, Oman Gas Company, Omani Oil Company, Oman LNG, Al Hassan Group, Shell Oil Company, and Oxy.
Presentations
The exhibitors will represent a wide range of countries, including Belgium, China, Egypt, the United States, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Norway, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, and Ukraine.
The conference will host over 48 presentations and 21 knowledge sharing ePoster presentations by authors from 34 companies and 16 countries. Two one-day SPE training courses will also take place before the conference.
