NBO picks first Al Kanz winner

A loyal customer of the bank since 1984, Ameer Ahamed has taken home the Al Kanz prize four times prior to this latest win, bringing it to a grand total of five prizes throughout the years

MUSCAT: National Bank of Oman has unveiled the first winner of its 2014 OMR100,000 Al Kanz draw. Ameer Ahamed Padiyath, a ‘Sadara’ customer of the bank’s Ghubra branch, was the lucky winner of the big prize. Members of the bank’s top management were present to hand over the cheque, says a press release.

A loyal customer of the bank since 1984, Padiyath, a successful businessma­n who has operated in the Sultanate for over 30 years, has taken home the Al Kanz prize four times prior to this latest win, bringing it to a grand total of five prizes throughout the years.

“I’ve been extremely fortunate as a customer who has been banking with the best bank in the Sultanate for past 30 years,” said Padiyath. “Loyalty plus a good savings habit has undoubtedl­y proven to be very rewarding. A strong incentive to save is set forth with the Al Kanz Account.”

The Al Kanz saving scheme promotes and encourages customers to adopt good saving habits with the incentive of being rewarded through the draws. NBO holds the distinctio­n of being the first bank in Oman to offer a million Rials with its savings account. “The bank is committed to meeting the demands of customers who embrace a strong savings culture,” said Moosa Al Jadidi, deputy gen- eral manager and acting head of Retail and Private Banking.

“Many factors contribute in driving saving habits, and as Padiyath’s OMR100,000 win has proven, saving does pay.”

Padiyath gave a bit of insight into what he plans to do with his newly found fortune. “I plan to continue saving with the National Bank of Oman and its flagship Al Kanz account, which has brought me much fortune in the last 30 years. Furthermor­e, I’m a firm believer in giving back and will expend part of my winnings to charity.”

The Al Kanz Savings account has been embraced and is valued in high regards among customers, proving to be a product that stimulates savings. The saving scheme has rewarded many winners over the years.
