Bank Muscat SME workshop begins today

SOHAR: Bank Muscat has organised a two-day workshop on Global Trade Finance targeted at the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector in Batinah region. The workshop begins today at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Sohar for women entreprene­urs, followed by another session for male counterpar­ts tomorrow as part of initiative­s by Al Wathbah, Bank Muscat’s SME department, aimed at expanding and strengthen­ing avenues for SME developmen­t in Oman, says a press release.

Expert trainers will lead the workshop familiaris­ing participan­ts with the scope of widening their SME ventures beyond the national boundaries. Topics to be covered include introducti­on to various methods of trade finance, including import letter of credit, letter of guarantee loans against trust receipts, and other advances against local bills discounts, government supply bill discountin­g, export credit, etc. Bank Muscat regularly organises workshops and seminars to facilitate unique learning opportunit­ies to address the challenges faced by entreprene­urs and thereby create an environmen­t favourable for SMEs. MUSCAT: Muriya, Oman’s leading tourism developmen­t company, exhibited at this year’s Internatio­nal Tourism Bourse (ITB), which took place in Berlin from March 5 to 9, showcasing Jebel Sifah and Salalah Beach, the two largest Integrated Tourism Complexes (ITCs) in Oman.

Muriya was the first and only private company from Oman to participat­e and occupied a 23square-metre exhibition space opposite Oman Air and the Ministry of Tourism to promote the Sultanate, says a press release.
