Iqbal show inspires Al Bahihi

MUSCAT: Skipper Iqbal Mohammed came up with a fine all-round performanc­e, claiming four wickets in four overs and smashing 40 runs off 27 balls, as Al Bahihi recorded an easy seven-wicket win against Oman Engineerin­g Complex (OEC) in a Khimji Ramdasspon­sored T20 Intermedia­te Cup knockout match.

Opting to bat first, OEC were bowled out for 109 in 18.5 overs. No. 11 batsman Zafar Abbas top scored with 22. Kishore Krishnan picked up two wickets.

Al Bahihi in reply raced to 112 for the loss of three wickets in 13.2 overs thanks to an opening partnershi­p of 74 runs between Iqbal and Prashant Tavdi (31).

Invited to bat first, Al Itihad, thanks to a well compiled 86 from opening batsman Wajid Akram and an unbeaten 23 from Nikesh P.V., reached 182 for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.

M. Muthumurug­an claimed a hat-trick dismissing batsmen for 20 in four overs while skipper Binu B.V. picked up three wickets.

Profession­al Trading made a brave reply to end with 175 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs with contributi­ons from N.P. Premkumar (62 not out) and Binu B.V. (23). Zameer Rauf picked up two wickets.

Al Ansari down Bank Dhofar

In another Khimji Ramdas-sponsored Junior Cup T20 match, Al Ansari registered a three-wicket win against Bank Dhofar.

Electing to field first, Al Ansari did well to bowl out Bank Dhofar for 115 runs in 19.2 overs with valuable contributi­ons from Sparsh Aggarwal (42) and opening batsman Krishnakum­ar Kowligi (31).

Skipper Adnan Nalwala bowled a tight line to return with figures of four for 23 in four overs with support from Meerayil Abbas and Nighil Viswanatha­n who claimed two wickets each.

Al Ansari replied with 116 for the loss of seven wickets in 19.2 overs thanks to a solid 49 from opening batsman Sajid Tanwar and a useful 21 from Sohail Khan.

Satish Nivrutti Karate and Shafi Pasha Pahadkani claimed two wickets each.
