OMR14,700 stolen from a car parked in CBD locality

Times News Service MUSCAT: In a daring theft in broad daylight, criminals broke open the window of a car and took away OMR14,700 from the parked vehicle in CBD area of Ruwi last week.

The incident happened when the owner of the vehicle had parked his vehicle in front of a bank and gone inside to withdraw money. “After withdrawin­g OMR14,700 from one bank, I had kept the money in the boot of the car. Then I realised, I needed more money, so I went to another bank to withdraw the money,” the victim, K Ahmed, said.

He told the authoritie­s that he was into constructi­on, trading, earth works, hotel, and restaurant­s businesses in Oman for the past 30 years. “Within 20 minutes, I returned to the car after withdrawin­g OMR1,000, when I discovered that someone had broken the rear window and opened the boot of the car, and fled with the envelope containing the cash,” Ahmed said. He lodged a complaint with the ROP, who are now searching for the criminals.
