MUSCAT: Tenders have been invited for the construction of the headquarters and annexe building of the Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran) at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) Business Park.
This landmark project is the centrepiece of Oman’s business development programme and is aimed at establishing the Sultanate as a major regional venue for regional and international events.
Currently undergoing construction, the OCEC project is progressing smoothly and on schedule, with a large number of tenders having been awarded successfully last year.
The brief of the tender includes construction, completion, handing over testing and commissioning and maintenance of the Omran headquarters and the annexe building at the OCEC.
Requirements
The tender fee is OMR3,000 and companies filing a tender are expected to be excellent grade and should have an experience of 10 years or above in having constructed similar projects.
“The last date for tender document sale is Thursday, October 22 and the last date for submission is not later than 10 am on Wednesday, November 25,” Omran said.
Omran, which is the Sultanate’s premier tourism-related investment, development and management company, has also invited tenders for direct subcontracting for the supply, installation, testing and commission of security, telephone and other advanced systems for OCEC Package 7 - Hotel 2.
The 4-star property hotel is currently under development and requires ICT active infrastructure including IP networks, IP TV, hybrid IP telephone, digital signage and a security system.
“Bidders should have strong experience in past hotel and hospitality projects that have a minimum 4-star property rating,” the tender said.
The tender fee is OMR400, with companies required to be excellent grade.
“A minimum five years experience in hospitality projects, with strong reference and implementation for the above systems mentioned,” the tender said.

Officials said the tender requirements are in line with the government’s vision of positioning tourism as a major economic driver in the future and as a generator of employment in Oman.
