Umberto Fanni is ROHM’s new director general
MUSCAT: Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) Acting Director General, Umberto Fanni, is its new director general, the ROHM Board has announced.
Umberto Fanni has been serving the Royal Opera House since September 2014 when he was appointed its Artistic Director.
He also contributed to the ongoing success of the Royal Opera House over the past several months in his capacity as Acting Director General.
Fanni has a long, distinguished career in the performing arts, not only in theatre management, but also as an award winning concert pianist.
Fanni graduated with high honours from the Conservatory of Music in Brescia, Italy, and completed his studies at the Conservatory of Music in Geneva.
Among his early achievements was founding in 1985 the Young Italian Chamber Orchestra, composed entirely of talented young musicians who are new established soloists or playing in renowned orchestras such as La Scala in Milan.
At the urging of the famous conductor, Maestro Claudio Scimone, Fanni’s career in performing arts management began with his collaboration as Assistant Artistic Director of Italy’s finest Chamber ensemble, I Solisti Veneti.
Fanni’s multifaceted contributions to music over the past three decades include the founding of a theatre and music festival management company. He has always valued innovation and advocated a well calibrated connection between artistic skills and managerial competencies.
