Goan Wing Football Cup on November 6
MUSCAT: The Goan Wing of the Indian Social Club (ISC) will organise the ISC Goan Wing Football Cup o November 6.
The day-long eight-a-side tournament will be played at Al Ghubrah Power and Desalination Co ground from 8 a.m. Twenty teams are in the fray for the honours. The teams have been divided into four groups. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinal round.
The draw of lots was held at Majan Continental Hotel on Friday. “With the co-operation of all the dedicated and passionate stakeholders, we intend to make this event bigger and better,” said ISC Goan Wing convenor Antonio Goes. For ladies, there will be a tie-breaker and a tug-of-war competition. There will also be a spot kick competition for veterans. For kids, there will be an art contest. The festivities will unfold with a grand opening ceremony featuring a march past by the participating teams and the Final will be witnessed by Indian Embassy and Indian Social club Officials. We expect a good crowd for the football tournament.
Teams: Group A: Titos FC, AIG – Anjuna, Curtorim Club (Muscat), B&W Kerala and Beach Boys.
Group B: Goa United, Sao Miguel, Amigos, United Kerala FC and Rawnaq Sohar.
Group C: FC Kerala, Muscat Hammers FC, FC Dejavu, Sohar Mavericks and Muscat United.
Group D: Nethaji FC Mabelah, FC Toxicans, FC Siolim, Hitachi Power Tools FC & SFX.
