Need for traffic cameras at all street junctions

The refers to the story ROP warns vehicle drivers against overlooking red lights (February 17). I completely agree with the statement by the Royal Oman Police official’s comments. This is just what I experience every morning on my way to work at the junction between the Al Maardin Street and Al Jami Al Akbar Street in Ghala where reckless drivers don’t wait in the queue like others and rush on the straight lane to the front of the signal to turn left after the signal. If these mindless drivers stick to the lanes there would not be such a traffic every morning. And this happens on almost every big junction in Muscat during rush hours. Why doesn’t the ROP install cameras at each and every junction to record the traffic and issue fines later on after they reviewed the tape? Global leaders need to focus on human development not wars

This refers to the report Toll from cyclone rises to 21 as Fijians begin clean up drive (February 22). The disasters resulting from climate change keep increasing yet all that happens are a few events with pledges to increase funding. It is high time the world leaders do something about it. US and Russia should lead the way by focussing on human development rather than wars. Ruwi
