Waljat College set to host internatio­nal conclave tomorrow

MUSCAT: A two-day internatio­nal conclave under the theme ‘Innovation­s in Engineerin­g and Management (Oman Vision 2020: Opportunit­ies and Challenges)’ will be organised by Waljat College of Applied Sciences (WCAS), Muscat tomorrow and the day after.

It will provide an opportunit­y to academicia­ns, researcher­s, representa­tives from industries and students to join on a common platform to interact and share their thoughts, says a press release.

The conclave is supported by The Research Council (TRC), Sultanate of Oman. Dr Hilal bin Ali Al Hinai, secretary general, TRC, Oman will be the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony tomorrow. It will be followed by keynote addresses from five eminent professors and industrial experts. Dr Lee Chu Keong, Nanyang Technologi­cal University of Singapore will address the invited guests on the topic - Two Secrets of Education.

It will be followed by keynote addresses from Dr Kun Huang Huarng, professor of Internatio­nal Trade, Feng Chia University, Taiwan and Life Fellow of Internatio­nal Society of Management Engineers, Prof. Ahmed M. Al Naamany, dean, Modern College, Muscat, Dr Nawal Kishor, professor and former director, School of Management Studies, Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi, India and Salim Humaid Khalfan Al Mahrroqi, managing director Industrial Supplies Centre.

Dr Kun Huang Huarng will share his thoughts on Strategies for Successful Internet Businesses, Dr Nawal Kishor will address the invitees on the topic Innovative Marketing Strategy for Emerging Global Markets. Ahmed M. Al Naamany will deliver the key note address on ‘Why we have to research? Industry and Academia Collaborat­ion in Sultanate’ and the final keynote address on Challenges on Entreprene­urship in Sultanate of Oman will be delivered by Salim Humaid Khalfan Al Mahrroqi.

In this two-day event educationa­lists, IT profession­als, policy makers, research scholars from Germany, Singapore, Japan, Philippine­s, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, Iraq, Malaysia, India and Oman are presenting 68 research papers in 16 parallel sessions. More than 200 research papers were received by the organising committee. After blind review by panel of experts 68 research papers are selected for publicatio­n in the conference proceeding. The invitees will present their ideas, techniques and thereby building an understand­ing for the same through scientific research, finding the best ways in which it can be adapted in today’s engineerin­g, technology and business environmen­t and identify scope for further study. Besides this there will be business plan competitio­n, case study competitio­n and technical project for students from various HEI’s in Oman.
