MUSCAT: Highly anticipated Red Bull F1 showrun will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Taimur bin Assad Al Said and in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism.

Touching down on Omani sands for the very first time, the F1 showrun is, for thousands of spectators, a once in a lifetime chance to experience an F1 car close up.

The Sultanate of Oman will host the event for the first time along the beautiful Muttrah Corniche in the historic city of Muscat. The winning machine will accelerate past crowds on the 1.1-kilometre long strip past the beautiful Muttrah harbour and Riyam Park, home to Muscat’s huge incense burner.

Scottish driving legend, David Coulthard will be behind the wheel and will take to the streets on April 8 during the 90-minute event. The free for public event will include an exciting array of activities and stunt shows. A shuttling system to and from the event venue will be available on the day for the public.

Red Bull showruns take place at racing circuits, on city streets, at festivals and exhibitions. Often playing to crowds measured in hundreds of thousands, they give fans the chance to see the contained ferocity of a Formula 1 car from close. Formula 1 is a great sport for TV, but there is no substitute for the ear-splitting roar of the engine, the haze of tire smoke and the aroma of burning rubber.

The showrun team has been to every continent, from Europe to the baking deserts of the Americas. It has conquered the highest road in the Himalayas, skated on frozen rivers in Canada and drifted across golden Caribbean beaches.

The current Red Bull F1 Showrun is being held under the umbrella of the Oman Automobile Association and Royal Oman Police, with the support of the Ministry of Tourism. The event is in partnership with Omantel, Khimji Ramdas, HiFM, Hala FM, Times of Oman and Shabiba.
