Event to promote Oman-India trade
MUSCAT: A trade and investment promotion event, with focus on healthcare, food industry, information technology, mining & mineral and construction & infrastructure sectors, will be organised by the Embassy of India, in association with Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), on March 30.
The purpose is to provide Indian companies from these sectors a platform to explore opportunities for exports, business tie-ups, investments and project work in Oman, says embassy communiqué.
Apex Chambers in India like Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Federation of Indian Export Organisation (FIEO), National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) and Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI) will organise delegations of Indian companies to showcase their products and services in these sectors to the Omani business enterprises.
A business to business meeting will take place at Hotel Crowne Plaza, Muscat, on March 30 from 9am. Omani enterprises dealing in these mentioned sectors are invited to attend the meeting with Indian companies. Sixty Indian firms have indicated their presence.
Further, the embassy will host a seminar for Indian enterprises at the embassy’s auditorium to create awareness on the opportunities in Oman for exports, project work and investments. Omani corporates in will make presentations to representatives of the participating Indian companies.
Bilateral trade between Oman and India, which had grown to $5.77 billion in 2013-14, has been declining in value. It had amounted to $4.18 billion in 2014-15. Mutual investment between Oman and India is estimated at $7.5 billion.
There are over 2,900 Indian enterprises in Oman.
