TSC marks Earth Hour
MUSCAT: The Sultan Centre (TSC) recently celebrated Earth Hour, joining the event’s global drive to preserve the planet by creating a more sustainable world.
All TSC stores across Oman switched off their external and unnecessary lights for one hour – from 8.30 pm to 9.30pm on the occasion of the 10th annual Earth Hour, says a press releases.
Commenting on TSC’s participation, Mahmoud Al Sheikh, marketing manager at TSC, said: “The Sultan Centre supported this initiative in order to help build awareness on the topic of environmental conservation, and our commitment in helping to protect the planet.
“We follow through on this philosophy across all our stores as well with our range of eco-friend- ly and bio-degradable products.”
TSC’s participation collaborated on the event’s global theme — ‘Places We Love’ — which refers to natural landscapes such as mountains, rivers, beaches, reefs, forest and national parks that are could be impacted from climate change.
Earth Hour started out as a lights-out event in Sydney, Australia in 2007, and has since become a worldwide grassroots movement uniting people to protect the planet. The event is organised by the World Wide Fun for Nature (WWF) annually towards the end of March encouraging individuals, communities, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour as a symbol for their commitment to the planet.
