TSC marks Earth Hour

MUSCAT: The Sultan Centre (TSC) recently celebrated Earth Hour, joining the event’s global drive to preserve the planet by creating a more sustainabl­e world.

All TSC stores across Oman switched off their external and unnecessar­y lights for one hour – from 8.30 pm to 9.30pm on the occasion of the 10th annual Earth Hour, says a press releases.

Commenting on TSC’s participat­ion, Mahmoud Al Sheikh, marketing manager at TSC, said: “The Sultan Centre supported this initiative in order to help build awareness on the topic of environmen­tal conservati­on, and our commitment in helping to protect the planet.

“We follow through on this philosophy across all our stores as well with our range of eco-friend- ly and bio-degradable products.”

TSC’s participat­ion collaborat­ed on the event’s global theme — ‘Places We Love’ — which refers to natural landscapes such as mountains, rivers, beaches, reefs, forest and national parks that are could be impacted from climate change.

Earth Hour started out as a lights-out event in Sydney, Australia in 2007, and has since become a worldwide grassroots movement uniting people to protect the planet. The event is organised by the World Wide Fun for Nature (WWF) annually towards the end of March encouragin­g individual­s, communitie­s, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour as a symbol for their commitment to the planet.
