Major Omani products expo attracts Iranian businessmen
MUSCAT: An Omani products exhibition, which concluded recently in Tehran, offered a unique platform for highlighting opportunities to boost business relations between the Sultanate and Iran.
The event succeeded in attracting businessmen and investors from various parts of Iran, who flocked to the platform to get familiarised with a variety of Omani products. The meetings between Omani businessmen and their Iranian counterparts were organised in line with the Omani Products Exhibition (Opex) and a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed between the two sides.
Omani firms
The exhibition also presented Omani firms from various industries, including natural resources, minerals, wood products, manufacturing products, furniture, food, medical and pharmaceuticals, fertilisers, plastic and metal equipment, perfume, leather, and logistics; in addition to a number of government bodies, and small and medium enterprises.
A number of companies specialising in the field of shipping and logistics took part in the event. Saad bait Nasib, assistant commercial manager for VAS and Liquid Products at the Port of Salalah, said, “Prior to this event, the port had a series of meetings with Iranian firms involved in the field of port services where cooperation agreements were signed to facilitate shipping and trade growth between the two countries. Our participation in the event allowed us to brief Iranian companies on our port, its facilities and incentives.”
Logistics
Al Madina Logistics Services also participated in Opex Iran, where it displayed its services in the field of logistics, goods delivery and storage.
Khalil Al Balushi, senior manager of Business Development at Al Madina Logistics stressed there are promising opportunities for the development of logistics activities and services between the Sultanate and Iran.
“Several Iranian companies showed an interest in cooperating with Omani firms in shipping and exporting of goods to and from the Sultanate through Omani and Iranian ports, besides cooperating in activating re-exports to Africa, Central Asia and Europe,” Al Balushi pointed out.
Sulaiman Al Sulti, director of public relations and media at Muna Noor Manufacturing and Trading, said; “This is the fifth time Muna Noor is participating in anOpex event, following earlier ones held in Riyadh, Dubai, Jeddah and Addis Ababa. Opex in Iran has offered a great opportunity for us to explore the Iranian market. Taking into account the great OmaniIranian relations, we aspire to see these relations having a significant impact on the economic side as well.” The Opex was organised by a panel comprising the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates, the Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development, and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The Opex event in Iran was aimed at enhancing business relations between the Sultanate and Iran, highlighting the high quality of Omani products for the visitors, exploring the dynamic market of Iran, and getting acquainted with the manufacturing, investment and export opportunities in Iran and the neighbouring markets.
