ISAM holds annual 6th athletic meet
MUSCAT: Indian School Al Maabela (ISAM) organised its sixth annual athletic meet recently. This colourful event received overwhelming participation and enthusiasm from students and parents alike.
Ibrahim Yahya Abdullah Al Rawahi, Wali, Wilayat of Seeb, Governorate of Muscat, and Vaishali M. Jesrani, Captain, Oman’s National Women’s Cricket Team, attended the occasion as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively. Other distinguished guests included, Kurien E Chandratil - SMC President, Dr Nagaram Dhande, SMC vice president, K Kumar-PSC chairperson and Chitra Pothiraj, treasurer, says a press release.
The opening ceremony began with the torch relay by last year’s best athletes. The march past by the four houses was a spectacular sight. The head girl of the school, Maariya Raza delivered the welcome address. Ibrahim Al Rawahi declared the meet open.
The solemn oath taking ceremony by Sports Captain, Manideepika Yellabandi, along with the school head boy, Ebin A Thomas and the house captains of Gandhi, Vivekananda, C.V. Ra- man and Abdul Kalam, set the tone for the complex formations of the Pyramid Drill by the middle school, secondary and senior secondary boys.
There was an outstanding presentation of physical fitness by the boys as the spectators watched it with abated breath. The girls put up a treat to the audience by their aerobics performance. Their amazing coordination, sense of rhythm and harmony left the viewers awestruck.
Games were conducted for the parents too. The finals of the track events for the sub juniors, juniors, intermediates, and seniors were organised. The spectators were cheering for their housemates, creating an ambiance for a healthy competition.
The Gandhi House secured their overall championship trophy for the fourth consecutive year. Principal P. Prabakaran presided upon the overall ceremony. Head boy Ebin A Thomas proposed the vote of thanks. This was followed by the lowering of the flags to mark the end of the meet. The entire event worked with meticulous scheduling and reflected values of sportsmanship and teamwork.
