WCAS celebrates 46 years of prosperity

MUSCAT: Waljat College of Applied Sciences (WCAS) celebrated 46th National Day of Oman recently under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Ghalib Al Hinai, adviser to the Minister of the Ministry of Manpower and Naema bint Jamil Al Busaidi, member of the Shura Council.

The celebratio­n started by releasing 46 coloured balloons into the air by the chief guest, Sheikh Mohammed bin Ghalib Al Hinai, Naema Jamil Al Busaidi and Prof. (Dr.) S. L. Gupta, the dean of WCAS to mark the golden occasion of Oman’s 46th National Day. The Arab band played the Royal National Anthem of Oman to showcase the spirit of patriotism of the people towards this great nation and its ruler His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, says a press release.

The staff and students of WCAS put up a spectacula­r show on the occasion. The cultural programmes began with the recital of Holy Quran. The video presentati­on of the achievemen­ts of the nation filled the hearts of all with feelings of nationalis­m, patriotism and allegiance to the nation.

A patriotic song by Sheikha Al Yahyayi and rap music by ‘Pride of Oman’ added grandeur to the event. In addition, there were various programmes such as dance, competitio­n for students based on the history of Oman etc. in order to kindle the spirit of nationalis­m in them.

Gupta congratula­ted the staff and students of WCAS for putting up such a spectacula­r display on this wonderful occasion. The chief guest, in his reply speech heaped praises on WCAS for organising such an event. He also lauded the efforts of WCAS in imparting quality education to students from all walks of life through various academic programmes in the fields of engineerin­g, IT and management. He was overwhelme­d by the performanc­e and said that the students of WCAS were truly talented. He also thanked Ruwaiya, Student Affairs Manager of WCAS, for the marvellous spectacle displayed by WCAS.
