MSM index ends lower

Gulf Internatio­nal Chemicals, up by 2.13% was the top gainer while Al Hassan Engineerin­g was the top loser, down by 5.08%.

MUSCAT: Amid muted volumes, the MSM30 Index inched down by 0.10 per cent to close at 5,730.97 points. The MSM Sharia Index gained 0.05 per cent to close at 861.21 points. Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat led in turnover. Gulf Internatio­nal Chemicals, up by 2.13 per cent was the top gainer while Al Hassan Engineerin­g was the top loser, down by 5.08 per cent.

As many as 446 trades were executed on Sunday, generating a turnover of OMR2.18 million with 11.9 million shares changing hands. Out of 40 traded securities, eight advanced, 11 declined and 21 remained unchanged. Omani investors were net buyers of OMR490,000 while GCC and Arab investors remained net sellers of OMR408,000 followed by foreign investors at OMR82,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,615.49 points, down by 0.16 per cent. Al Omaniya Financial Services, Gulf Investment Services, Ahli Bank and Bank Muscat gained 1.06 per cent, 0.88 per cent, 0.52 per cent and 0.45 per cent, respective­ly. Al Izz Bank, Al Batinah Investment, BankDhofar, HSBC Bank and Bank Sohar declined by1.41 per cent, 1.01 per cent, 0.86 per cent, 0.85 per cent and 0.61 per cent, respective­ly.

Industrial Index advanced by 0.24 per cent to close at 7,380.69 points. Gulf Internatio­nal Chemicals, Al Maha Ceramics and Al Anwar Ceramics gained 2.13 per cent, 2.04 per cent and 0.58 per cent, respective­ly. Al Hassan Engineerin­g and Galfar Engineerin­g declined by 5.08 per cent and 1.03 per cent, respective­ly.

Services Index retreated 0.15 per cent to close at 3,047.34 points. Renaissanc­e Services, Phoenix Power and Port Services declined by 1.21 per cent, 0.68 per cent and 0.42 per cent, respective­ly.
