Waljat College ranks 2nd in Facebook INC Social Network report
MUSCAT: Waljat College of Applied Sciences (WCAS) has surged ahead to the second position on the social media platform, for the month of January 2017, in the private universities and colleges from the Sultanate of Oman.
According to the Americanbased Facebook INC Social Network report for the month of January 2017, Waljat College is followed by around 9,000 social media users viz. on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and ‘liked’ the postings which varies from various college activities ranging from seminar, industrial workshop, alumni meet, students activities, among others.
Noted personalities like Ajit Khimji of Khimji Group visited the college and interacted with the students and faculty members. From the IT sector – Biswaranjan Sethi, head Business Development - Infoline, Gaurav Sohan, head – BPO sales and Vatsala Mishra, marketing manager. Haya Water CEO Hussain Abdul Hussain, Huawei HR Manager Mahir Talib Salim Al Waheedi, also interacted and guided the students at various workshops and seminars organised by WCAS.
“Waljat College, known for its bachelor’s and master’s programmes in engineering, business administration and computer applications, lined-up with various part-time professional courses viz. logistics, marketing and human resources which are to be held in the coming months, have got good response on social media platform,” said Dr Niraj Mishra. He further added, a 2-day international workshop to be held from Feb 21-23 on ‘Relationship marketing and its challenges’ by Prof. Satyendra Singh from a Canadian University, is also catching a lot of eyeballs on Facebook and Instagram.
WCAS has been on the forefront on social media platform, through its efficient team led by P. Vijaya, head of Computer Science & Engineering Department and Ruwaiya Salim Al Rabbani, Students Affairs Coordinator in coordination with all the Head of Departments, club coordinators and Students Council members, under the direct supervision of Dean Prof. (Dr) S. L. Gupta.
“This is a big achievement by the students and faculty members, who played a stellar role in highlighting both academic and extracurricular activities, through social media platform,” said Dr Gupta.
“Students are given prominence not only with their studies but lot of extracurricular activities are organised by the students council in coordination with the faculty members,” said Dr Seema Varshney, assistant professor, who is also the coordinator of photography club.
