Rumba Lattina to have a monthly comedy show

- Up Funny Side

MUSCAT: Redefining the art of entertainment and fine dining, Rumba Lattina is featuring something new on the menu – a whole lot of laughs.

Destined to turn a quiet evening to a night of roaring laughter, Rumba Lattina will set the stage for the most looked forward to comedy nights in the country,

Kicking off the second show of the year slated to be held on February 25, Rumba Lattina will be holding this comedy show once in a month with a free entry for all stand up comedy enthusiasts. After an overwhelming response from the audience since its very first comedy show in February 2016, Rumba Lattina has been a consistent patron to standup comedy, says a press release.

“It is indeed a pleasure to be the venue partner for The response we’ve got is amazing and it just keeps getting better with each show,” said Arman Hossain from Rumba Lattina.

The much loved comedian and emcee Abbas Al Lawati will host

The show will feature Oman’s favourite comedians like Nasser Al Rashidy, Khalid Al Tattan, Sushil Chndekar, Neston Moras and Khalid Al Ghailani who will all put forth their own comic tales in different styles such as deadpan, sarcastic or just frustrated which comes very natural to these comics.

“If it’s stand-up, it definitely has to be Rumba Lattina’s

featuring Abbas,” said Divya Kashyup. “We have always en- joyed the shows as each routine is unique and each of the performing comedians has a set quite different from the other; we make sure we don’t miss even a single show.”

Giving his well-established name to banker turned comedian Abbas Al Lawati has a unique blend of facts and funnies that range from life stories, modern day problems and an amusing exaggeration of otherwise unimportant things all with a rather witty, dark and quirky twist.

Starting not so early in his 20s, it however took Abbas less than a year to make his mark in the industry. Sharing the stage with well-known, internationally acclaimed comedians like Maz Jobrani (twice), Ahmed Ahmed, Dan Nainan, NimrAbouNassar, Rajiv Satyal and Amer Zahr, Abbas successfully delivered one authentic routine after another.

“The issues I discuss are real. Honestly, I can’t help but wonder why hand dryers make so much noise. Do we really have to go deaf in an attempt to save the environment?” said Abbas Al Lawati. In my opinion, comedy is the benchmark of free thinking. If you are able to get critical about matters and at the same time convey it in a way that regardless of how sensitive the subject is, people accept it with laughter, then you have a win-win situation there. There are times when your audience will not accept your views; and that is when a comic has to sell it as a joke. It’s something like selling the same product in a different packaging.”
