MUSCAT: Following the last three Back2Business events hosted by the Grand Hyatt Muscat, the working group is in the final stages of planning the 2017 event which will take place on March 7.

Previous B2B’s have focused on the importance of networking, social media and leadership in the modern business world. Last year, B2B invited one of the most successful Ted Talk Presenters, Drew Dudley, who believes ‘leadership is not a characteristic reserved for the extraordinary’ to share his thoughts.

Back2Business is ‘The Largest Business Networking Event in Oman’ and will welcome hundreds of guests looking to network, socialise and collaborate with leading businesspersons from across the Sultanate.

This year’s members-only event is organised by representatives from the Oman American Business Centre (OABC), the British Business Forum (BBF), the European Business Persons Group (EPBG) and the Australian Business Group Oman (ABGO). “We are planning to use this year’s event to recruit more members,” stated Susan Rae, chairman of ABGO. “All the groups meet regularly throughout the year and welcome new members. We want to encourage on-going participation”.

The 2017 Back2Business theme will be ‘overcoming challenge’, a title that represents the current standpoint of many businesses in the Sultanate. “Business in Oman is facing challenges due to the fall in oil price and many other issues,” stated Maggie Jeans OBE, Coordinator of the BBF.

To greater enhance this discussion, B2B will welcome Talal Al Rahbi, deputy secretary general of the Supreme Council of Planning; the organisation behind the Tanfeedh initiative, to deliver a key note speech on the topic.

“The respective business groups offer a fantastic variety of events across Oman, which include speed networking, canapé receptions, live speeches and demonstrations, tours and informative sessions as well as seated dinners and gala events” stated Eva Stanley-Jones, member of the BBF.

The major sponsor of the event since its inception is the Bank of Beirut Oman.
