Sports-themed movie to be shot in Oman and India

MUSCAT: A film production firm has announced its plan to make a Hindi-Arabic sports-themed movie titled Papa Kehte Hain Bada Naam Karega.

The film, which will be shot in Oman and India, will be directed by Harleen Singh and produced by Delicious Sahadevan, R. Chhikara, Harleen Singh and Dr Deepak Sharma. The movie, which is a sports drama, is expected to be released in November this year.

To be produced under ‘Hit Production­s’ banner, the movie will capture the inspiring story of a young boy who aspires to be a cricketer.

A spokespers­on for the production house said, “We are delighted to announce this film which we hope will be an Oman - India production. We are eagerly looking forward to joining hands with some local production houses.”

“The pre-production process and making of the film will start only after we get the required permission to shoot in Oman,” the spokespers­on added.

The film follows the story of a young protagonis­t who has an undying passion for the game of cricket.

“The movie will capture the life of a cricket-obsessed young boy from a remote Indian town whose only aim is to become a cricketer and fulfil his dream of representi­ng the Indian national cricket team globally,” he said.

Whether the boy can accomplish his dream will be the focus of the film.

“The movie will include many interestin­g sub plots like an India versus Pakistan match among others,” the official said.

The star cast of the film has yet to be finalised.

Over the last few years, Oman has remained an attractive destinatio­n for Indian filmmakers.

“A number of Bollywood and regional films and songs have been shot in Oman. While the audiences have been impressed with exotic locales, government authoritie­s in Oman have been open to promoting the Sultanate as a destinatio­n for film shoots. We hope to showcase the natural appeal of the county through our film. We hope through our film audiences across the world experience Oman’s stunning deserts, virgin beaches, clear blue seas, wadis and green-capped mountains,” said the spokespers­on.

Hit Production and Delicious Sahadevan will group together with the local production house in Oman to produce the film.

Hit Production­s is an upcoming film production houses in India. Based out of Delhi, Hit Production­s has produced corporate films, short movies, TVCs and videos. A film produced by Hit Production­s was showcased at Cannes in the short film category received rave reviews from film buffs.

Dr Deepak Sharma is a wellknown name in the field of homeopathy, his family has been in Oman for 34 years. Dr Deepak Sharma apart from being a successful doctor is also an avid rider and is an active HOG Oman member.
