Staff Reporter MUSCAT: A number of reputed operas, Omani shows, Arab performances, ballets, concerts, education and outreach programmes will mark the 20172018 calendar of the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM).

The theme for this year is called “A Legendary Season.”

Starting on September 14 with Giuseppe Verdi’s grand masterpiece, Aida, the season will feature 35 new programmes and 55 performances till May, 2018.

Tickets go on sale from May 23, 2017.

The much anticipated itinerary features Arab concerts, with contemporary legends, such as Sami Yusuf, Omani star Salah Al Zadjali, Majid El Mohandes and other famed names.

Children can enjoy productions, such as The Moth Princess, Peter Pan, Peter and the Wolf, Cinderella, and the Swan Lake, among others.

ROHM will also pay a special tribute to the legendary singer Luciano Pavarotti on the 10th anniversary of his death.

“ROHM pays tribute to Pavarotti in a gala concert with four amazing stars that are in demand on the world’s best stages—Fiorenza Cedolins, Sumi Jo, Marcello Giordani, and Francesco Meli. Some among these four leading opera singers studied and shared personal life experiences with Pavarotti, while others performed with him,” said Umberto Fanni, ROHM’s director general.
