Intellectual property in focus at TRC event

MUSCAT: Intellectual property is one of the pillars of the National Strategy for Innovation, a senior official said during a press conference on Wednesday.

The press conference on the importance of intellectual property was held at the Research Council building in the Wilayat of Boucher on Wednesday.

Fatima bint Abdullah Al Ghazalieh, Chairperson of the Pillar Team, presented an illustrated presentation on the intellectual property pillar in the National Strategy for Innovation.

The presentation also included the most important global influences in innovation.

She said that intellectual property was one of the pillars of the National Strategy for Innovation and its importance stems from its role in promoting and supporting global innovation indicators that comply with international laws.

She added that the team is currently working on a national intellectual property strategy as part of national capacity-building initiatives in intellectual property.

Fatima Al Ghazalieh pointed out that The Research Council (TRC) started work on studying the establishment of the National Intellectual Property Centre in Muscat with the aim of increasing the inspectors of intellectual property patents, patents and preservation of copyright and related rights.
