OAB sponsors two Iftar events for cancer patients
The first event was held in the Royal Hospital and the second Iftar event was held at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital
MUSCAT: As part of its ongoing corporate social responsibility programme, Oman Arab Bank (OAB) sponsored two Iftar events for cancer patients in conjunction with the ‘ Sanubader’ volunteer group, the Royal Hospital, Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, and the National Oncology Centre.
Commenting on the bank’s sponsorship of the iftar initiative, Hilal Omar Al Siyabi, head of Corporate Social Responsibil- ity Department at OAB noted, “We believe that our success in the banking sector has to be reflected in activities in the community that have a positive impact on all segments of society. In line with this philosophy, we decided to sponsor this noble initiative aimed at a very important segment of the society – cancer patients who are in need of all the support we can give them. We are pleased to be in a position to offer our support to the ‘Sanubader’ volunteer group in achieving their goals with this event and putting a smile on the faces of the patients. At the same time, we pride ourselves on the ex- ceptional participation of our staff who attended both Iftar events and provided help and support directly to the patients, which is a clear reflection of the virtues of Ramadan, the month of mercy, cordiality, and good deeds.”
Muna bint Rashid Al Yahyai, head of the ‘Sanubader’ group praised the support of OAB for the ‘Iftar Saim’ (feed the fasting) initiative, saying, “Our group works voluntarily to help people in need. OAB’s support of our activities has helped us significantly in the achievement of our goals. We extend our deepest gratitude to the bank for their valuable partner- ship in this initiative, and hope other private institutions follow their lead.”
The first event was held in the Royal Hospital and saw the attendance of cancer patients in the hospital, together with the medical staff working in the department. The second Iftar event was held at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital and was attended by patients together with the medical staff working there.
“It was a very enriching experience for everyone who took part. It is important for each one of us to participate in such initiatives. They help us develop a better understanding of the difficult challenges and pressures faced by the less fortunate members of our society. It also serves as a lesson for everyone on how hopeful a human being can be in the face of such challenging times. We thank the ‘Sanubader’ volunteer group for giving us the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful initiative. We believe that our role and contribution towards our community is just as important as the other roles we play at an economic level,” concluded Al Siyabi.
