Hyundai IONIQ Electric crowned best among electric cars

DUBAI: The Hyundai IONIQ Electric has been crowned as ‘best value’ for electric cars, according to a new survey, and supporting the Middle East’s take-up of electric and hybrid vehicles.

Being crowned ‘Wertmeiste­r 2017’ – or ‘value champion’ - the Hyundai IONIQ Electric held an impressive 60.65 per cent of its projected residual value after four years, based on an annual mileage of 10,000 kilometres. The study was conducted by German car magazine

Among electric vehicles, the Hyundai IONIQ beat out the Volkswagen e-Golf and ranking above the BMW i3. In another accolade for Hyundai, the IONIQ Hybrid also ranked among cars that hold their value best. IONIQ is part of Hyundai Motor’s global sustainabi­lity strategy to launch 14 new eco models by the year 2020, including five hybrid vehicles, four plug-in hybrid vehicles, four elec- tric vehicles and one fuel-cell electric vehicle. The world’s first car to have three electrifie­d powertrain­s – Hybrid, Plug-in, and Electric – the Hyundai IONIQ comes with a comprehens­ive five-year unlimited mileage warranty.

This applies to all vehicles acquired at authorised Hyundai dealers and even includes an eightyear or 200,000-kilometre warranty for the car’s valuable highvoltag­e battery.
