Waljat College holds 1st induction programme for its academic heads
MUSCAT: Waljat College of Applied Sciences organised the first induction programme for the newly appointed head of departments recently.
The objective of this programme was to brief about the rules and regulations of the college, vision, mission and values, different code of ethics, relationship with students, grievance handling procedure, academic plan, relationship enhancement and build trust, handling of academic related issues, students code of conduct and grievance policy, students support services, leadership quality, quality related issues and timeline for completing tasks.
Zaid Khalifa Al Shekili, HR manager welcomed the new heads of academic departments and spoke about how to achieve its vision. The Dean Prof. (Dr) S. L. Gupta explained ways to enhance relations and build trust with colleagues and students. He also gave useful tips in addressing the students’ queries. Dean further stressed the four drivers such as helpfulness, genuine interest, understanding and respect that are essential for student service. The dean also explained different code of ethics required to become a good leader. The HR manager stressed on the need to support each other in achieving our mission, vision and values. He also said that the change of management as per the needs increases the effectiveness of functioning.
Dr Vijaya, Head of Academic Coordination & Academic Support Services requested all the academic heads to adhere to the timelines given for the completion of the task. The dean, the assistant dean, and the HR manager wished all the newly appointed heads a bright career ahead in their new assignment.
