MUSCAT: After an exciting fiveday action that saw the best paddlers from around the Arab region display their talent, the 16th Arab Table Tennis Championship will conclude at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on Sunday.

While the championship provided a treat to the local table tennis fans, the Sultanate and the Oman Table Tennis Committee, with the support of the Ministry of Sports Affairs, showcased their organisational abilities in hosting both the championship as well as the general assembly of the Arab Table Tennis Federation.

The good news to come out of the Extraordinary General Assembly hosted at the Best Western Hotel on Saturday was the election of Oman Table Tennis Committee chief Abdullah bin Mohammed Ba Mukhalif as the vice-chairman of Arab Table Tennis Federation. The election of Ba Mukhalif as the Arab body’s vice-chairman adds to several achievements of the Oman Table Tennis Committee since it was formed by the Ministry of Sports Affairs.

Meanwhile, the Oman committee informed that Sunday’s closing ceremony will be presided over by Sayyid Saud bin Hilal bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar.
