National Biscuit holds ‘Nabil Junior Superchef’ contest

MUSCAT: National Biscuit Industries Ltd, popularly known as Nabil biscuits, congratula­ted the winners of its ‘Nabil Junior Superchef ’ contest held online.

The contest was held in associatio­n with What’s Cooking Oman, a most popular Facebook page aimed at celebratin­g special food dishes and recipes from around the world, initiated by Oneza Tabish, a popular food blogger and columnist in Oman.

As a part of the contest, children aged between 8 years – 15 years, residing in Oman, were invited to submit innovative and original recipes of food dishes made using Nabil Crackers, Nabil Snackits, Nabil Digestive, Nabil Marie and Cocozoo. Children were requested to post their recipes along with photograph­s on Nabil’s Facebook page and the Facebook page of What’s Cooking Oman.

Ten winners were declared under 2 categories – ‘Salads & Chaats’ and ‘Desserts’. Under the Salads & Chaats category, Mrinali Parasher who made Nabil Mini Burger Chaat won the first prize, Batul Mustafa won second prize, Ria Thakkar won the third prize, Darsh Vora and Hareem Saquib won the fourth and fifth prize respective­ly.

Under the Desserts category, Safa Wasif Banker who made a Rainbow Digestive Cookie won the first prize, Ujjwal Raj won the second prize, Anishka Gupta won the third prize, followed by Samiya Syed and Ayesha Nadeem winning the fourth and fifth prize respective­ly. The above 10 winners each got a Nabil hamper, a trophy and gift vouchers worth up to OMR25.

The contest was hard-fought with an overwhelmi­ng number of entries and Nabil biscuits joined What’s Cooking Oman in expressing its gratitude for the warm response to the contest.

Unnit Mankodi, head Sales & Marketing at Nabil biscuits said, “At Nabil, our endeavour is to regularly engage with our consumers of all ages, and especially our younger fans. While we regularly have contests ranging from ‘Back to School’ to ‘Win with Nabil’, where we give away gifts ranging from a Mazda 6 to the latest laptops, iPhones and iPads; this is the first major event conducted exclusivel­y online. We are overwhelme­d with the meticulous recipes which the young children have painstakin­gly made, and hope to have many such contests in the future.”

Oneza who also judged the plethora of entries said, “This positive synergy between Nabil and What’s Cooking Oman proved to be a big success. Every child who participat­ed in this contest made an outstandin­g effort. It was challengin­g yet gratifying judging the innovative/unique creations of these talented children. Team Nabil did a fantastic job in providing the winners with factory visits, vouchers and trophies as well as gifting hampers to the quiz winners. I look forward to more such events with Nabil now.”
