Omantel signs agreement with Al-Ariami Boulevard

MUSCAT: Omantel, the first provider of integrated telecommun­ications services in the Sultanate, has signed MoU with Al Raid Group to provide Al-Araimi Boulevard with an integrated system of telecommun­ication and IT infrastruc­ture services.

The partnershi­p will include the installati­on of state-of-the-art high-speed fibre-optic networks for voice calls and data, which will serve as a valuable addition to the infrastruc­ture of the tourism sector in Oman and reflects the company’s interest in developing the national economy. This move is in line with Omantel’s vision to drive organisati­onal integratio­n between the government and private sectors to promote the telecommun­ications sector in Oman.

Todd Dick, vice president, Omantel’s Enterprise­Unit, said, “We are continuing our investment­s to support e-government and the digital community including smart cities’ services, ICT and major projects.”

He added, “Omantel provides innovative communicat­ions services and smart solutions designed to meet the needs of its customers and their future aspiration­s for ICT. We are proud that Al Raid Group has selected us to provide Al Araimi Boulevard Shopping Centre with the telecommun­ication and fibre optic network, which reaffirms the company’s confidence in the local market and our commitment to provide service levels that exceed the expectatio­ns of our subscriber­s, in line with our digital trans- formation strategy 3.0.”

Mohammed Ghamloush, Senior Adviser to the COO of Omantel, said, “As part of the Memorandum of Understand­ing signed between Omantel and Al Raid Group, we will design, install and maintain the latest fibre optic and data networks as well as voice services in the project. After the installati­on of the necessary infrastruc­ture, the services provided will include voice services and data services for the fixed and mobile phones, as well as high-speed broadband services and other integrated smart city solutions.”

Arab Engineerin­g Bureau (AEB – ASSAF), the General Consultant for the project said, “Omantel is the trusted- partner to provide a more reliable network. The choice is a result of our keenness to provide the best communicat­ion experience to investors and add real value to the visitors at the centre and its parks and recreation­al facilities.

Al Raid specialise­s in shopping mall developmen­t and owns some of Oman’s largest shopping malls and leisure destinatio­ns. An example is Al Araimi Mall, the first shopping mall in the Sultanate of Oman.

The Group establishe­d AlAraimi Boulevard to be the ideal destinatio­n for entertainm­ent and shopping with unique attraction­s when it is completed in September 2018. The Al-Araimi Boulevard project is spread over 147,500 sqm, including 250 shops with a total rental area of 70,500 sqm, 3,000 parking spaces and the largest dining hall with 20 restaurant­s and food trucks that can accommodat­e 1,200 people.

The Group has focused on entertainm­ent activities for all age groups and has created a unique entertainm­ent section within AlAraimi Boulevard with an area of 6,000 sqm and 10 cinema screens equipped with modern technology.

Al-Araimi has the largest glass dome with photovolta­ic solar panels (Photo Voltaic) that allow daylight to enter without heat, energy reduction and storage for use as a sustainabl­e source of lighting, ventilatio­n, water consumptio­n and recycling.
