Conference on ‘Oman Workplace Safety & Loss Prevention’ held

MUSCAT: The Oman Workplace Safety & Loss Prevention Conference was held yesterday at Crowne Plaza hotel under the patronage of Sheikh Khalid bin Omar Al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service.

The two-day conference which will conclude today was organised under the auspices of Ministry of Oil & Gas, Sultanate of Oman and has the support of OPAL – Oman Society for Petroleum Services, IOSH – The Institution of Occupational Safety & Health, OSE – Oman Society of Engineers and ASSE – American Society of Safety Engineers.

The conference was sponsored by; Main Sponsorship from Orpic and Oman Oil Company Exploration & Production, Platinum Sponsorship from Sohar Aluminium and Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance and Silver Sponsorship from Petrogas E&P and Oman LNG Development Foundation.

The event had experts from Oman and abroad as speakers, sponsors and exhibitors showcasing cutting edge technology, research, products and knowhow for a safer and profitable business environment.

This conference was a strategic initiative and a part of Oman National Development Agenda event to review and enhance workplace safety, security, and work together to enhance operating safety standards in Oman.

Samara Salah, director of Training at Samara Training Services the organiser mentioned that the event received support and participation from major government organisations who have a stake in the workplace safety improvement programme of Oman National Development Agenda. The event also had the participation of leading oil & gas, construction, infrastructure and health sector and from companies with large scale employment. Sadiq Ahmed Khan, managing director of Tafani Events & Research mentioned that the central idea of the event is to draw focus on workplace safety in organisations. The event had over 150 delegates attend and 14 expert papers were presented.
