Conference on ‘Oman Workplace Safety & Loss Prevention’ held

MUSCAT: The Oman Workplace Safety & Loss Prevention Conference was held yesterday at Crowne Plaza hotel under the patronage of Sheikh Khalid bin Omar Al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service.

The two-day conference which will conclude today was organised under the auspices of Ministry of Oil & Gas, Sultanate of Oman and has the support of OPAL – Oman Society for Petroleum Services, IOSH – The Institutio­n of Occupation­al Safety & Health, OSE – Oman Society of Engineers and ASSE – American Society of Safety Engineers.

The conference was sponsored by; Main Sponsorshi­p from Orpic and Oman Oil Company Exploratio­n & Production, Platinum Sponsorshi­p from Sohar Aluminium and Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance and Silver Sponsorshi­p from Petrogas E&P and Oman LNG Developmen­t Foundation.

The event had experts from Oman and abroad as speakers, sponsors and exhibitors showcasing cutting edge technology, research, products and knowhow for a safer and profitable business environmen­t.

This conference was a strategic initiative and a part of Oman National Developmen­t Agenda event to review and enhance workplace safety, security, and work together to enhance operating safety standards in Oman.

Eng. Samara Salah, director of Training at Samara Training Services the organiser mentioned that the event received support and participat­ion from major government organisati­ons who have a stake in the workplace safety improvemen­t programme of Oman National Developmen­t Agenda. The event also had the participat­ion of leading oil & gas, constructi­on, infrastruc­ture and health sector and from companies with large scale employment. Samara Training Services is a profession­al in consultanc­y and training services on Workplace Safety discipline with major clients in government and corporate sector.

Sadiq Ahmed Khan, managing director of Tafani Events & Research mentioned that the central idea of the event is to draw focus on workplace safety in organisati­ons. The event had over 150 delegates attend and 14 expert papers were presented. Tafani Events & Research is an Omani Internatio­nal company that only works on events powered by research, which have a direct impact on National Developmen­t Agenda.
