MEDRC Water Research signs MoU with KAIA
The agreement recognises common areas of interest between both parties and the potential that exists for mutually beneficial future collaborations
MUSCAT: To focus on research projects and to help find solutions to freshwater scarcity, a memorandum of understanding was signed between MEDRC Water Research and Korean organisation KAIA (Korean Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement) at ME- DRC in Al Hail, Muscat.
The agreement recognises common areas of interest between both parties and the potential that exists for mutually beneficial future collaborations.
KAIA is a quasi-government organisation that manages research programmes for the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport while MEDRC Water Research is an NGO headquartered in Muscat and mandated to work towards finding solutions to freshwater scarcity in the Middle East.
Both parties expressed a desire for cooperative exchange in the field of water resources management, with a particular emphasis on seawater desalination technologies that are imperative to finding solutions to freshwater scarcity.
Ciarán Ó Cuinn, director, MEDRC Water Research Centre and Dr Byung-Soo Kim, president of KAIA signed the MoU in the presence of distinguished guests Ambassador Dr Mohammed Al Hassan, acting undersecretary for Diplomatic Affairs (MOFA) and SonByeong-Seok, Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) Republic of Korea.
