Orpic hired most Omani graduates in 2016: Survey

The 2017 Graduate Survey has published the names of top ten companies that recruited Omani graduates in 2016

MUSCAT: Orpic hired the most graduates in 2016 and Petroleum Developmen­t Oman (PDO) is the most preferred company for graduates, according to the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE).

The 2017 Graduate Survey has published the top 10 companies in Oman that recruited graduates in 2016. A ceremony honouring the most preferred companies among graduates and the companies with the most recruited graduates for 2016, was held by MoHE. The cer- emony was held under the patronage of Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Bakri, minister of Manpower.

Top three

Topping the list is Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic), followed by Oman Air in second place, and Bank Muscat in the third place.

“One of the achievemen­ts we are proud of at Oman Air is our contributi­on to recruiting the largest number of graduates in 2016,”Oman Air said online.

“According to the 2017 gradu- ate survey, PDO is the most preferred company for graduates in 2016,” MoHE said. The survey was conducted by the Graduate Survey Department of MoHE and began in January.

Evaluation

The aim of the survey was to evaluate the extent of knowledge, skills and abilities acquired by graduates during the academic years 2013-2014, 2014-2015, and 2015-2016, which qualify them to join the labour market.

More than 25,000 graduates holding qualificat­ions from Diploma to PhD, responded to the survey, said Dr. Fatima bint Said Al Hajri, director of Survey.

The fourth and fifth spots were held by PDO and Halliburto­n, followed by Special Technical Services Oman, National Bank of Oman, Abraj Energy Services, Oman Airport Managment Company, and Bank Dhofar.
