Igor Moiseyev state ensemble to perform in Muscat
MUSCAT: Igor Moiseyev State Academic Ensemble of Popular Dance will perform this weekend at the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM).
Acclaimed by prominent critics as the greatest traditional dance company of our time, the ensemble is famous for its technical brilliance and exuberant virtuosity. The company will set the stage alight with colour, energy and vibrant choreography.
The Igor Moiseyev State Academic Ensemble of Popular Dance will perform dramatic and exciting traditional dances from Russia and other countries, in a truly spectacular show over two nights at the Royal Opera House Muscat: Thursday 9 and Friday 10 of November at 7:00 pm.
At the heart of the success of the Igor Moiseyev ensemble over the past seven decades is the genius of Igor Alexandrovich Moiseyev (1906-2007), reputed to be the greatest 20th century choreographer of character dance, a style similar to folkdance, but with greater professionalism and superior theatrics.
The Moiseyev ensemble continues to perform at the highest standard, as it tours the world to meet an increasing demand for the finest in traditional dance.
Igor Moiseyev was awarded numerous orders and medals, including the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, First Class, Russia’s highest civilian decoration. Beyond the borders of his homeland, Igor Moiseyev received the UNESCO Mozart Medal in 2001 for his outstanding contribution to world music culture.
