Aquaculture project launched

QURIYAT: The first stage of the aquaculture project using the floating cages was launched yesterday at the fishing maritime in the Wilayat of Quriyat under the auspices of Dr. Fouad bin Ja’afar Al Sajwani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries.

The project is supervised by Blue Water LLC a subsidiary of Oman Aquaculture Development Company. The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries said that the project is one of the first and leading projects by Oman Aquaculture Development Company for the production of 3,000 tonnes of koffer fish.

The two complimentary stages in the Bama and Dhabab villages in the Wilayat of Quriyat are expected to increase the production to 9,000 tonnes.

He pointed out that the fishing marina in the Wilayat of Quriyat will include a fish processing and packing factory, in addition to other project for production of fish feed.
