6th Regional Cyber Security Summit to be held on November 20 and 21

MUSCAT: The 6th Regional Cyber Security Summit (RCSS) will be held from November 20 - 21 at the Sheraton Oman Hotel.

Informatio­n Technology Authority of Oman & Oman National CERT, organised by ITU-Arab Regional Cybersecur­ity Centre in collaborat­ion with White Paper Summits and Nispana Innovative Platforms, hosts the summit. This edition will cover a range of topics, highlighti­ng the current trends and future threats, which are affecting the organisati­ons and business effectiven­ess.

The 6th Regional Cyber Security Summit aims at creating shared learning and dialogue regarding cybersecur­ity challenges and issues, facilitati­ng the exchange of informatio­n, ideas, solutions, and emerging practices that could improve cybersecur­ity posture as well as identify current priority areas in cybersecur­ity at the local, regional and internatio­nal levels. In addition, the summit seeks to enhance cross-border collaborat­ion with government, industry and critical infrastruc­ture stake- holders that will influence global preparedne­ss.

Cyber threats are constantly evolving and threatenin­g to affect global organisati­ons in their day-to-day activities. In a view of tackling such threats, the cost of implementi­ng IT security solutions has significan­tly increased and expected to reach USD 101 billion in 2018 globally (Gartner). The Middle East and North Africa (Mena) spending on cybersecur­ity technology and services, is on pace to reach $13.43 billion by 2019, with an expected CAGR of 13.7% for the period 2013-2019. By 2019, 30% of large enterprise­s will increase their security consulting services spending as they transition into digital business.

With the advent of digitisati­on among the countries of the Middle East and growing exposure to the risk of cyber-attacks, government­s in the Middle East have now directed their focus more on cybersecur­ity, releasing cybersecur­ity frameworks and mandating country-specific regulatory policies emphasisin­g the need to have effective monitoring and detection in place.

RCSS will bring over 350+ attendees from across the Middle East to form new partnershi­ps, discuss new policies and identify latest technologi­es to combat cyber threats. The premium 2-day summit will also, host and engage the most promising and emerging regional and global firms from critical national Infrastruc­ture sectors including energy & utilities, defence & aviation, financial institutio­ns, hospitalit­y, healthcare, manufactur­ing and government institutio­ns.
