PSM holds intra school declamatio­n

MUSCAT: Pakistan School Muscat (PSM) held the Annual Intra School Declamatio­n, 2017.

Muhammed Arif Barkat, the managing director of Gulf Neon Sign, attended the event as the chief guest whereas Sajid Pervaiz and Ch. Abdul Nasir were the guests of honour. Zia ul Haq Siddiqui, the chairman - Steering Committee of Pakistan Schools in Oman along with Ataullah Niazi, senior principal - Pakistan Schools in Oman, Khalid Mehmood Khan Jadoon, principal, Pakistan School Muscat, Mazher Bukhari, principal - Pakistan School Seeb and Munazza Ghafoor, principal – Junior School, cordially welcomed the guests.

Debaters from Pakistan School Muscat, Buraimi, Mussannah, Sohar, Nizwa and Seeb took part in the competitio­n.

The jury of the declamatio­n was formed by Edmund Nii Sai Arbenser – head of English Department at Al Sult bin Malik Private School – Al Khoud, Prof. Dr Col. Irshad, ex-principal – PSM and Avugla Komla, a teacher from Asad bin Malik Private School.

The programme consisted of two levels. In level 1, the students of Grades V- VIII expressed their views on the topic: Are Video Games Good for Children?’. Whereas contestant­s from Grades IX-XII unveiled their side of the picture on ‘Co-curricular activities are a hindrance for the academic excellence’. All the participan­ts displayed the skill of oration making the competitio­n an uphill task.

In group 1, Zuha Malik from Pakistan School Sohar won laurels as the top speaker and Marium Morzak from Pakistan School Seeb stood second in order. In senior group, Hira Mehmood, Fatima Ghani and Burzam Furzam won the second position while Mehreen Hamid of Pakistan School Mussanah got the top position. In overall result, debaters of Pakistan School Sohar stood the winners and PSM held the trophy as the runners-up.

Trophies, certificat­es and cash prizes were given away to the participan­ts and the winners of the declamatio­n.
