MUSCAT: The 24-day annual Muscat festival will begin on January 18 and run until February 10, municipality officials announced on Monday.

The festival will take place mainly in Amerat Park and Naseem Gardens, and will showcase mesmerising sights, food, sports, cultural and entertainment for adults and children alike.

This year, some events will also take place at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, apart from Amerat Park and Naseem Gardens. The festival promises to enthral visitors with its new look this year, and the municipality hopes it will attract huge crowds due to the pleasant weather and school holidays.

The details of Muscat Festival 2018 was discussed during the 11th board meeting of the first year, second term of the Municipal Council, which was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Eng. Mohsen bin Mohammed Al Shaikh, Chairman of the Municipal Council.

Suresh, an Indian expat, who has been living in Oman for the last 10 years, claimed that he has never missed any Muscat festival. “It offers an opportunity for a gettogether for everyone. Families and friends can all meet here and enjoy,” he noted. “I am looking forward to taking a look around and will probably schedule in a visit to Naseem Park.” If speed enthrals you, then you should not miss the amusement park area of the Muscat festival at Nassem Gardens, according to regular visitors.

The heritage village at Amerat Park provides a glimpse of traditional Omani lifestyle to people visiting the festival every year. “We hope this year also it will be the same,” Mohammed, a regular visitor, said.

The heritage village provides an experience through a living example of traditional Omani life and culture. A tour of the village helps visitors get a glimpse of a picture of life from Oman’s past, as well as see the well-maintained traditions for which Oman is known.
