HSBC Bank Oman awards authors and innovators
MUSCAT: Future Omani authors and innovators have been recognised by HSBC Bank Oman in celebration of International Volunteer Day.
The awards were made at a special event in the Capital Market Authority building, which hosted representatives from the Environment Society of Oman, the British Council and the Caledonian College of Engineering, who were all strategic partners in HSBC’s corporate sustainability activities in 2017.
“Nurturing young talent and driving educational development are among the core values of HSBC and the focus of two of our main corporate sustainability programmes in the Sultanate, namely, Taqaddam and Young Omani Author award,” said Andrew Long, CEO of HSBC Bank Oman.
“Helping today’s children to be successful individuals in the future, contributing positively to the Sultanate’s ongoing development and prosperity are the themes of both programmes and HSBC is proud to play a part in nurturing young Omani talent,” Long added.
The two projects, in addition to other activities organised by the bank throughout the year, were supported by volunteers from HSBC who offered coaching the students, shared their work experiences and organised events. HSBC Bank Oman staff contributed more than 2000 volunteer hours in 2017. Leading volunteers were also recognised during the event.
