Nod to State Council internal regulations

MUSCAT: The State Council yesterday approved its draft internal regulations during its 4th session of the third annual sitting of the sixth term under the chair of Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council.

The Chairman of State Council stressed the importance of the internal regulations in highlighting the practice of legislative and oversight powers enjoyed by the Council, as well as the method of operation for the different bodies of the State Council.

He added that the old regulations of the State Council, which were developed long time ago, had to be amended to ensure that they meet the needs of the current and future stages and keep pace with the developments witnessed by the Shura experience during the past years. The State Council approved the study proposed by the Culture, Media and Tourism Committee under the theme “The role of the Omani drama in the society; the theatre as an example”.

The Committee cited a number of reasons for conducting such study, such as activating the role of Omani drama and theatre in the society, the recession in the role of theatre in the Omani cultural theme and enhancing the role of drama in combatting negative phenomena among youths.

The study aims at assessing the Omani drama in general and theatre in particular, the challenges it faces and the solutions.
