Conmen held in Sohar

MUSCAT: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) arrested three Omanis and an expat for impersonat­ing police officers, kidnapping, assaulting, and robbing a person of OMR1,000.

The Department of Criminal Investigat­ion, led by the North Al Batinah police, stated, “Three citizens and an Asian national were arrested in Sohar on charges of loot, impersonat­ion of police officers, and harassment.”

According to the ROP: “The accused pretended to be policemen and entered the house of the victim. They asked to search his house, then beat him, and stole his money, mobile phones, and two watches. The accused then took the victim in their car to a farm and asked him for OMR1,000 in exchange for his resident card and release.”
