Over 300 on admission wait list of Indian schools in Muscat

MUSCAT: The results of the first draw for admissions to the six Indian schools in the Muscat capital area were announced on Wednesday, with 324 students kept on the waiting list. This year, the Indian School Board got 4,300 applicatio­ns, which is 19 per cent less compared to the number of applicatio­ns in 2017. Last year, the Board received around 5,300 applicatio­ns of which around 5,100 children finally took admissions in the Indian Schools.

Rising number

According to statistics, the Indian School Board received 4,600 applicatio­ns in 2014, 5,000 in 2015, 4,700 in 2016 and 5,300 applicatio­ns in 2017.

The online registrati­on for admissions (KG I to Class IX) in Indian schools in the capital area for 2018-19 started on January 10, 2018 and ended at 2:00 pm on February 15, 2018.

“The applicants in the waiting list will be considered for allotment in the next draw which will be held in the last week of March,” Wilson V. George, Chairman, Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman, said.
