Badr Al Samaa launches advanced radiology suit

-

MUSCAT: Badr Al Samaa Hospital, Ruwi introduced advanced imaging solutions and they include state-of-the-art latest 16 slice CT scanner, digital mammography, oral pantomography and bone marrow densitometry units.

Abdul Latheef, P. A. Mohammed and V. T. Vinod, the Board of Directors of Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals, formally inaugurated the advanced imaging centre recently.

The new CT scanner allows high-resolution scans in much shorter time. This translates to faster turnaround time for patients resulting in quicker diagnosis and treatment. Bone marrow densitometry helps for evaluation of bone strength. The bone density status of postmenopausal women is assessed at regular intervals for the prevention and management of osteoporosis. In order to serve patients better, Badr Al Samaa realised the need for bone density studies and launched the facility.

“We are committed to providing the best healthcare facilities to the citizens and residents of Oman. As part of this commitment we have upgraded our radiology facilities; not just in Badr Al Samaa Hospital Ruwi, but across our branches in the Sultanate,” said Vinod, Mohammed and Abdul Latheef.

“There has been a rise in breast cancer across the world. The new digital mammography unit installed in Badr Al Samaa, Ruwi has exceptional detection rate with low radiation dose,” said Dr Nevin

Breast cancer screening means checking a woman’s breast for cancer before there are signs or symptoms of the disease. Although screening cannot prevent breast cancer, it can find breast cancer early, when it is easier to treat with the best outcome. Badr Al Samaa Hospital has a committed breast cancer screening programme based on international recommendations.

Badr Al Samaa already plays an important role in supporting healthcare delivery for the people of Oman in the private healthcare system. Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals installed first-of-itskind stress-free, state-of-the-art in-bore MRI technology at its hospital in Ruwi at the beginning of February 2018. Within bore video experience, ultrafast scan time and noise reduction technology getting an MRI need not be a difficult experience. The feedback from patients has been outstanding with hardly any patients having to cancel their MRI due to phobia. The new facilities and expansion planned for Oman will enhance and solidify their wider role in the private healthcare delivery system of the region.

“Our goal is to invest in advanced healthcare facilities, to enable the delivery of patient care of international standards in a wider spectrum of medical specialities. And we will continue to strive to achieve the highest standards,” said the directors.

Their approach is being driven by powerful trends that are rapidly changing healthcare practice and patient care demands throughout the world.

Increased medical specialisation and advances in diagnosis and surgical techniques are making possible dramatic improvements in patient care.

The advanced and sophisticated radiology department at Badr Al Samaa will be a strong support for clinical and surgical referrals and it will attract more referrals from the medical fraternity across Oman.
