CBSE grants affiliation to Indian school

MUSCAT: India’s Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has granted affiliation to the Indian School in Buraimi.

Getting the nod from New Delhi was a long awaited dream for the school authorities and the Indian community in Buraimi.

Indian School Buraimi is one of the fastest growing Indian schools and now among 15 affiliated with CBSE out of the 20 Indian schools in Oman. The school had a humble beginning in 2010 with 52 students, with classes only up to grade 2. Within seven years, however, the number has increased by more than 400 and the school has classes up to grade 8.

Wilson V. George, Chairman of the Board of Directors, announced the news at the inaugural ceremony of Indian School Saham. He congratulated the Indian community in Buraimi for their continued support and the school community for their efforts in achieving the goal. He also thanked the Indian Embassy in Oman, for the support in getting this affiliation.

C.M. Najeeb, Vice Chairman of the Board, thanked CBSE officials for their favourable response to the delegation from the Indian School Board in Oman headed by him, during their recent visit to CBSE.

The school is all set to start higher classes when the new academic year commences in the first week of April.
