MUSCAT: The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) joined the first edition of the Kuwait International Agro Food Expo, which kicked off on Sunday at the Kuwait International Fair Grounds under the patronage of Ali bin Hashem Al Kandari, Chairman of the Kuwait Union for Consumer Cooperative Societies.
The event will highlight various sectors related to agro food, including agriculture products and equipment, food and beverage, hospitality and catering, food security and safety, aquaculture, fisheries, poultry, and dairy.
PEIE’s Marketing and Media Director General Omar bin Mohamed Muqaibal spoke of the importance of taking part in specialised exhibitions to boost production and expand markets for Omani products.
“A number of Omani companies are participating under the umbrella of PEIE in this expo, which is an opportunity for Omani firms to learn about the latest technologies in the agriculture industry, as well as benefit from the experiences of participating factories,” he said.
“In addition to that, the companies have the chance to hold B2B meetings with participating businessmen and interested visitors to explore cooperation opportunities and ink deals at the event,” Muqaibal added. PEIE’s participation at Kuwait’s expo comes in line with the Origin Oman campaign that aims at raising awareness of locally manufactured products and services and their ability to compete locally and abroad. Origin Oman Campaign is a national initiative designed to encourage consumers and organisations to buy Omanimade goods and services, promote national pride in the manufacturing industry and highlight the economic importance of choosing and buying locally manufactured products and services.
Muqaibal also said the exhibition offers an opportunity to disseminate awareness on PEIE’s role in enhancing the Sultanate’s position as a leading regional centre in manufacturing, ICT, innovation and entrepreneurship excellence, as well as its mission of attracting industrial investments and providing continued support, through regionally and globally competitive strategies, good infrastructure, value added services, and easy governmental processes.
The expo is witnessing participation from several countries, including Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, India, the United States of America, Sri Lanka, and Singapore. The participation of PEIE at this major event in Kuwait is part of its plan to promote Omani products abroad.
PEIE has already participated in a number of international events during the first quarter of 2018, apart from local exhibitions and events. Besides Kuwait, PEIE also participated in the International Fair of Khartoum in January and Gulfood 2018 in February.
Next on the schedule for PEIE will be the Malaysia International Halal Showcase in April.
