AVOD supports Civil Defence Day event

MUSCAT: Areej Vegetable Oils and Derivative­s (AVOD), was the silver sponsor of the Civil Defence Day event organised by the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) Oman recently.

Salem Bortmany, CEO and vice chairman, AVOD said, “AVOD was privileged to be part of an occasion that recognises the role played by Civil Defence in protecting life and property apart from playing an important role in handling emergencie­s in the Sultanate. It was also an opportunit­y for us to support our brave rescue services that work tirelessly to safeguard the Oman citizens and expatriate­s alike.”

The event took place at the College of Applied Sciences in Sur under the patronage of Sheikh Abdullah bin Mustahail Shammas, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah and was attended by a number of officials and dignitarie­s.

The theme of the event focused on ‘Civil defence and the national institutio­ns for more efficient disaster management’. It began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and was followed by speeches, a poetry recital and a theatrical presentati­on by students.

The sponsors of the event were also felicitate­d at the end of the ceremony after which the guests proceeded to the Civil Defence and Ambulance Equipment Exhibition in which AVOD also participat­ed and displayed its leading brands such as Minara, Sohar, Areej, Khafeef, JabalAkhda­r and Muscat Margarine are trusted names in every Omani home.
